Job DescriptionGICHD – Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian DeminingDescriptionJob purposeThe Grants Manager assumes a management role within the GICHD, focusing on Grant management and reporting. Reporting directly to the Head of External Relations, the Grants Manager (temporary) will lead a team and collaborate closely with the Head of External Relations, donor stewards, Project and Programme Managers, Advisors, and associated project staff.Key responsibilities * Serve as the primary liaison at working level with donor representatives,in collaboration with internal donor focal points, and participating in donor meetings, together with Heads of division as appropriate.
  • Oversee the entire grant management process, including planning, tracking deadlines, submission of proposals, and reporting.
  • Provide strategic advice to donor stewards and lead and initiate cross-division and cross-function fundraising initiatives, coordinating and finalizing the drafting of concept notes and funding proposals, incorporating input from relevant teams to ensure clarity and donor alignment.
  • Manage the preparation and quality control of donor reports, ensuring narrative and financial reporting meet donor requirements and deadlines.
  • Enhance and refine internal systems for tracking grants, submissions, deadlines, and donor engagement activities.
  • Monitor evolving donor rules and requirements to identify potential grants-related compliance risks and ensure alignment with internal GICHD policies.
  • Work closely with Head of External Relations, Donor Stewards, Project Managers, Heads of Division, and Finance to align project delivery with grant obligations and new funding opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Manager on donor visibility to ensure accurate and strategic representation of donor support in external materials.
  • Manage the grants team, giving strategic direction and quality control, fostering collaboration and building an enabling work environment.
Qualifications and professional experience
  • Master's degree in international relations, development, or social sciences.
  • at least 5 years of managing grants and leading a team.
Knowledge, skills and competencies
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing successful funding proposals and concept notes for institutional, bilateral, multilateral, and philanthropic donors.
  • Proven track record in securing and managing large-scale grants and multi-year donor partnerships.
  • Strong proposal writing skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives tailored to different donor audiences.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and oral; proficiency in other languages (especially French, Spanish, or Arabic) is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing donor relations and engagement strategies at operational level.
  • Interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and cultures in a diverse organizational setting.
  • Sound analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate financial data in support of proposals and donor reporting.
  • Project management experience, with the ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to and demonstrated experience in integrating gender equality, diversity, and inclusion into donor communications and fundraising materials.
  • Familiarity with donor compliance requirements and reporting standards, especially for institutional donors.
Contract detailsThis is a fix term contract of 6 months, from 1 October 2025 to 31 March 2026.
