HybridJob DescriptionKey ResponsibilitiesIdentify key policy themes and trends for Region Europe by monitoring key policy bodies and legislative processes relevant for the region, in collaboration with the EU Public Affairs team in Brussels and public affairs teams in national capitalsIdentify policy priorities and significant policy uncertainties for Novartis in Europe and assess their likelihood and impact – this could include a range of policy topics such as environmental sustainability, market access, IP, competitiveness, or science policyAbsorb complex information and provide digested insights within Corporate Affairs as well as cross-functionally, ensuring relevant internal stakeholders are informedDevelop Novartis positions in alignment with internal experts, articulating clear policy asks for engagement with external stakeholdersCollaborate closely with the Emerging Policies function in the Global Policy team to pull policy intelligence and functional expertise in emerging topics e.g. health data and AI, green tech and license to operateConduct structured & predictive policy horizon scanning to anticipate future developments in emerging policy areas in Europe with impactful implications for NVSProduce and contribute to briefings for senior leaders on priority and emerging policy topics in EuropeIdentify relevant information and actionable policy insights for Europe from primary and secondary data sources, including internal reports, external research, and open-source intelligenceMaintain external network of policy stakeholders in alignment with EU Public Affairs team in Brussels and attend region-specific external fora, conferences and meetings on policy topicsMaintain strong internal network to stay informed on enterprise priorities, key functional priorities and policy needs of key countries in the regionWhat you'll bring to the role:Essential Requirements:Extensive experience in pharmaceutical policy, public affairs or strategy roles within a European context and/or in management consultingStrong knowledge of EU institutions, European policy-making and political dynamics in EuropeExperience in identifying key policy uncertainties and develop predictive scenarios that inform decision-making and risk mitigation strategiesExperience in crafting policy positions, senior management briefings, and external messaging documentsExperience engaging with policymakers and government stakeholdersAbility for forward-looking and predictive monitoring of EU and broader European policy landscape, and experience in data-driven scenario planning to anticipate future policy developments and their potential impact on the organisationTotal fluency in English, other languages a plusDesirable RequirementsMaster's degree (e.g. MSc) / University Diploma or equivalent in relevant discipline – e.g. political or social science, lawExperience in government or parliamentWhy Novartis?
