- Build, enhance, and maintain Python-based analytical tools and dashboards that generate trading features and signals.
- Integrate market data from both the financial markets (e.g., futures, options, spreads, volatility surfaces) and the physical oil value chain (e.g., flows, freight, arbitrage, refining margins).
- Contribute to the design of a rule-based trading system, including signal development and backtesting.
- Conduct research on macroeconomic, geopolitical, and industry-specific developments to assess their implications for crude oil and refined products.
- Collaborate with traders and senior analysts to identify and evaluate thematic and structural trading opportunities.
- Prepare market commentary, trade rationales, and periodic performance summaries for the desk.
- Ensure quality control, versioning, and documentation of analytical models and code.
- Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Engineering, Statistics, or Economics).
- Working understanding of Python and its uses in exploratory data analysis, feature engineering and signal generation.
- Exposure to the crude oil and/or products markets in any capacity — market analysis, engineering or operations.
- Strong understanding of macroeconomics and its relationship to energy markets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, market-driven environment with tight deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and a commercial focus.
