In this role, you will leverage technology to implement advanced statistical methodologies and strategic operational enhancements aimed at optimizing clinical trial designs and data analytics throughout various stages of drug development. You will play a pivotal role in innovating through the application of novel study designs, advanced modelling, and simulation techniques, including Bayesian methods and predictive analytics as well as the computational implementation of these.YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a member of an expertise hub, supporting Study/Project Statisticians and clinical project teams in the implementation of innovative trial designs and advanced statistical methodologies
Address complex challenges in drug development and life-cycle management using advanced modelling and simulation techniques to optimize clinical trial designs and data analytics
Utilize various data sources to enhance clinical study designs and operational efficiencies for agile, data-driven decision-making
Drive the development and implementation of novel study designs, including adaptive designs and Bayesian model-based designs, as well as advanced data analytic tools (e.g., R-Shiny apps)
Provide innovative statistical approaches to optimize clinical trial designs, leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning to support real-world evidence and personalized medicine strategies
Represent the Statistical Innovation cluster in clinical development programs and maintain an external network through participation in conferences and collaborations with academic institutions and industry experts
Provide training on advanced statistical methods and novel study designs for knowledge sharing and large-scale adoption
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements governing clinical trial data (e.g., FDA regulations, ICH guidelines)
WHO YOU ARE
University degree (PhD or MSc) in a relevant field such as Biostatistics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline, with strong emphasis on coding/computer science
8+ years of experience as a Statistician or in an applied quantitative methods role in the pharmaceutical or biotech sectors; machine learning expertise is a plus
High level of expertise in innovative statistical methodologies across a broad range of study designs, including adaptive designs and advanced modelling techniques, with working knowledge of Bayesian methods
Strong leadership capabilities, embracing and modelling the VACC (Visionary/Architect/Catalyst/Coach) behaviours, along with mentoring and coaching skills across diverse cultural environments
Outstanding interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills; fluent in English with strong presentation abilities
Thorough knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and understanding of the clinical drug development process, including regulatory requirements governing clinical trial data, clinical data structures and programming with data (e.g., SAS, R, Python)
Proficiency in object-oriented languages (e.g. C++ and Java), including CUDA/GPU-programming, and extensive experience in building, maintaining and updating R Shiny applications, Github and web hosting Set-up/maintenance of a dedicated R computing environment for Bayer's D.I.G. approach
Experience with Bayesian software (e.g., BUGS, JAGS, Stan)
Proficient in English with excellent communication skills
