In order to bring safety to the next level, you will scout and evaluate new safety technologies. You will review and validate investment projects related to advanced safety solutions in powder processing, hazardous gas and any process safety related improvements. You will be leading the powder explosion safety network across Nestlé, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices. This network today is having more than 50 professionals.A Day in the Life of a Senior Engineering Specialist
- Proactively propose and drive new ideas, technical solutions, and projects to NPTC/R&D, SBUs, and Operations
- Build and document knowledge about the latest methods, trends, and developments in the relevant field.
- Lead and manage knowledge building and business-related project activities
- Provide accurate and timely explosion and process safety incidents report to operations to ensure knowledge is captured and mitigation actions are duly captured.
- Integrate scientific, technology, quality, safety, and environmental knowledge into the business
- Implement safety strategies, coach and guide project and network team members, and promote cross-fertilization between sites
- Provide safety expertise to achieve excellence in powder explosion, spray dryer and process safety
- Drive the development of advanced safety technologies and standards, validate pilot solutions, and integrate them seamlessly into operations
- Engineering or equivalent university degree
- Minimum 10 years of experience in process safety in an industrial environment
- Process engineering knowledge: fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer
- Knowledge of thermal decomposition and self-ignition kinetics of combustible solids
- Knowledge of international safety standards for explosive atmospheres with special focus on combustible dust
- Practical knowledge of process risk assessment techniques (Hazop, Layer of Protection Analysis), functional safety (IEC 61508 and 61511), and Process Safety Management systems
- Experience in the design and implementation of prevention and mitigation safety measures in spray dryer operations, explosive atmospheres, hazardous gases, and chemicals
- Experience in incident investigation related to the fields described above
- Network with international organizations for process safety (Loss Prevention, VDI...)
- Problem solving, Solution finding
- Strong written and oral communication skills (including presentations)
- Good interpersonal/teamwork skills and a good sense of business/technical interrelationships
- Good level of English (spoken, read), other languages are an advantage (French, Spanish, or German)
