The PositionIn Roche’s ), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed.360 Labs Initiative at a GlanceThe 360 Labs are a new capability that is currently being built up within the ). The primary mission of this effort is to provide greater access and support for the use of cutting-edge biomedical research technologies by scientists across our discovery portfolio.Operating as an integrated ecosystem, the 360 Lab environment will deliver core scientific technologies, expertise and enabling activities, as well as facilitate knowledge sharing and learning experiences in close collaboration with our therapeutic areas and functions. Together, these efforts will serve to increase the speed, enhance the robustness and improve the sustainability of our exploratory research and early discovery activities. We are currently recruiting scientific professionals with varied backgrounds in Flow Cytometry, Genomics, Proteomics, Histopathology and Microscopy / Imaging. In these new roles, your collaborative mindset is as valued as your scientific expertise. The 360 Labs are by nature a hands-on, interactive workplace where face to face presence in our labs is a priority. Our ambition is to bring to life a thriving workplace environment, acting as an highly integrated ecosystem, supporting research and development, working collaboratively, and focused on fostering excellence and sustainability.Job Mission and ImpactThe Proteomics Core Technology Platform in the 360 Labs Initiative is seeking to add to its team a full-time customer-centric, lab-based (at least 90% of the time) scientific professional, with a focus on mass-spectrometry-based proteomics technologies applied to drug discovery. You will have an exceptional background in biochemistry, as well as an outstanding proficiency in applying LC-MS technologies to help generate scientific insights through the development and execution of investigative proteomics studies. You will work with a sense of urgency as a part of a matrix team, interacting with experts from each of our therapeutic disease areas and functions, and participate in the early implementation and growth of the Proteomics Core Technology Platform within the pRED organization.Your Role and ResponsibilitiesContribute to the design, and execution of, hands-on experiments to develop, optimize and implement either standard or custom LC-MS based proteomics workflows (focused on sample preparation, nano LC-MS/MS measurement using high-end mass spectrometry instrumentation, and data QC and processing). Work closely with other team members and contribute to the optimization and data evaluation of newly implemented and / or developed proteomics workflows.Ensure the delivery of high-quality proteomics data with a sense of urgency; contribute to the discussion of data analyses with data scientists and stakeholders; be responsible for the maintenance of lab equipment and infrastructure, and ensure compliance with local requirements.Embrace a continuous learning mindset by actively engaging with other Platform members, and the scientific literature to stay abreast of technologies / approaches in the proteomics field.Your ProfileYou have a BS or MS degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related field, with extensive research experience in proteomics. You are a skilled experimentalist with the aptitude to contribute to the design of complex studies, planning and executing wet-lab experiments independently, including biochemical sample preparation for proteomics workflows (e.g., subcellular fractionation, immunoprecipitation). You also demonstrate high competency in sample analysis with nano LC-MS for various quantitative approaches (e.g., label-free, TMT, SILAC).You have proficiency in the operation of (i) automated liquid handling systems (AssayMAP Bravo), (ii) liquid chromatography systems (capillary LC, Easy-nLC, Vanquish Neo), (iii) Orbitrap (Exploris, Tribrids, and/or Q Exactives) and/or ion mobility (timsTOF, FAIMS) MS instruments, including acquisition methods such as data-independant, -dependant acquisition (DIA, DDA), and parallel reaction monitoring (PRM).You are familiar with databases, software tools and data visualization approaches commonly used in the processing, storage and interpretation of proteomics data.In addition to your scientific expertise and critical technical skills we are looking for candidates who are:Curious with a growth mindset, resourceful and flexible in problem solving, have excellent organizational skills, and can think outside the box and have a demonstrated ability to implement new ideas in a fast-paced research environment;Excellent communicators with a high fluency in English, a desire to continuously build a personal network and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, inclusive environment which gives you full accountability for your own contributions and development.Your LocationThis position is based in Basel. Our commitmentRoche commits to recognizing talent and aptitude.
