Reporting to the Head of Economic Policy, the successful candidate will support IATA's global efforts and prioritized engagement on aspects relating to industry taxation and taxation policy. This work will be undertaken in coordination with the SVP Sustainability and Chief Economist, the Policy Director, other workstream Heads, as well as internal and external stakeholders. The work agenda will be fully integrated with that of the whole division, coordinating and collaborating wherever possible, aiming for holistic and multifaceted analyses.What your day would be like- Conduct research and analysis and prepare written reports, policy papers, and submissions on industry taxation issues. These will relate to policy frameworks and assessment of both existing taxes and new taxation proposals, and their impact on airlines and their customers;
- Supported by robust, evidence-based research and analysis, engage with governments and tax authorities on issues relating to industry tax policy, including influencing the development of new policy proposals at a national, regional, and global level;
- Promote industry tax standards and best practices;
- Develop relations with international bodies that conduct work in the taxation sphere, such as the United Nations and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD);
- Act as a recognized internal source of industry taxation expertise;
- Collaborate with a range of different teams within IATA, including in the regional offices, to identify and develop agreed strategies to engage on taxation issues;
- Participate in all the work of the economic policy team and make contributions to a range of topics. Similarly, contribute to the work of the Division across the topics of sustainability and economics.We would love to hear from you if- University degree in Economics, Finance, Law, or similar. Post-graduate qualifications would be well regarded.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience working in a research or international environment on public policy issues including notably tax policy.
- Solid knowledge of global, regional, and national taxation policies with an emphasis on corporate taxation and on their effect on international airline operations. Familiarity with various taxation databases, such as TTBS, and other resources would be an advantage;
- Demonstrated high level of analytical skills and research capability; and
