- Provide legal advice on intellectual property matters.
- Manage relationships with Science & Technology (S&T) managers and management in adjacent business functions to effectively manage their intellectual property (IP) portfolios.
- Mentor junior colleagues.
- IP portfolio management: Drafting, filing, prosecution, and maintenance of a portfolio of patents.
- Draft and negotiate IP-related aspects of agreements.
- Risk Management.
- Support the Group Head of Intellectual Property in leading negotiations to resolve third-party IP disputes and other contentious proceedings.
- Represent the IP department at S&T management committee meetings.
- Qualification as a European Patent Attorney or an equivalent national qualification. Preference for dual qualification - European Patent Attorney and registered attorney before a relevant national office such as US, UK, or DE offices.
- An advanced degree, at least a master's level and preferably a Ph.D., in a relevant scientific discipline - Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, etc.
- 5+ years of post-qualification experience in a law firm or an industrial practice.
- A thorough knowledge of patent and intellectual property laws globally.
- Knowledge in drafting and negotiating the intellectual property elements of agreements with third parties.
- Knowledge of the fragrances, food and cosmetics industries is good to have but not mandatory.
- Proficient in the English language.
- Comfortable working and collaborating with diverse teams and cultures.
