The Industrial Robotics Group (IRZ) at ETH Zürich, is rapidly growing and focuses on pressing challenges in robot-based manufacturing. Utilizing advanced computational methods, machine learning, modeling, and custom hardware, we test our solutions in various real-world projects with industry. We foster a culture of continuous improvement, transparency, and no BS, where facts, learnings, and results are of utmost importance. We maintain our own state-of-the-art laboratory and are generally well-funded. Our goal is to develop the essential technologies and methods needed to create fully integrated, autonomous, and highly reliable systems for manufacturing. We are seeking versatile researchers to be at the forefront of robotics. You'll bridge theoretical knowledge with practical applications, engage with both academia and industry, and shape the future of manufacturing.TasksIn this role you are leading two projects: (1) the control of a secondary kinematic system for increasing stiffness and dynamics in robotic machining and (2) the control of a novel ultra high-performance heavy payload industrial robot actuated by direct drives.
  • Lead the robotic machining research initiative
  • Be the go-to person concerning all control topics
  • Contribute to the development of a new lecture at ETH Zürich.
  • Regularly publish in top-tier journals.
  • Mentor and lead junior researchers, engineers, and students.
Requirements
  • PhD from a leading university in robotics and
  • An extensive portfolio of influential publications pertinent to our field.
  • Proficiency in Python and C++.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to research.
Benefits
  • Possibility to define your own research agenda.
  • Exceptional freedom in job execution, including working hours, style, and location.
  • Mentorship and training to foster your professional growth, both in research and engineering
  • Support from highly motivated, competent and driven group internal engineers.
  • Permanent positions available.
Do you have a general understanding in all domains of robotics? Are you someone who is exceptionally well-organized and detail-oriented? If you are resilient and excel in tackling complex challenges in a fast-paced research environment, we encourage you to visit the IRZ group webpageIndustrial Robotics Group Zürich (IRZ)The Industrial Robotics Lab Zürich (IRZ) is a research group within the Advanced Manufacturing Lab (am|z) at ETH Zurich, and inspire AG.With broad expertise in both, computer science as well as mechanical and process engineering, we are in a unique position to tackle fundamental problems within robot based manufacturing with multidisciplinary and data-driven approaches. Our well equipped lab enables us to quickly bring our ideas to the test.Embedded in the scholarly environment of ETH Zurich and backed by Inspire's resources, network and industrial expertise, we regard it as our mission to bridge the gap between academia and the production line.
